As mentioned in Part 1 of this “Prolonged” view of Human and religious evolution we may decipher that it was the logic of the select few at places like the First Council of Nicaea, that decided the fate of Humanity “And” Divinity at large.
But, we are getting a little of ourselves, there were many Gods and Kings before the 325 AD Council of Nicea. People had started building empires and praying to the “SELECT” few for redemption thousands of years ago, in Egypt, India, Babylon, Greece and then Rome.
The common link to the complexity of Deities and the Religious Systems can be best tracked in the Holy Bible. Being from a Jesuit school I had the fortune of reading the bible as a child when my mind was still not corrupted by the IDEOLOGIES of the world. And thus, I believe has fascinated me ever since.
In the Old Testament God, had simple rules, needed simple sacrifices and man was content with whatever he had. However, as man became more “Rich”, and therefore “Corrupted” and “Violent” to retain whatever “Riches” he had acquired, God’s rules became more stringent and complex..
Wait a minute, am I reading this correctly?? The all pervasive all knowing, the Alpha & the Omega God himself did not know that man will become the “Ass” that he had become?? Did he not know that I will have to wipe the Earth clean with these mongrels by sending the GREAT FLOOD (Thank God For Noah or else..)?? Did he not know that all this will happen and man will need stricter rules??
Let me demonstrate this further.. Genesis 2:16-17, "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
Hmmm simple enough rule, let us fast forward to a few hundred years or maybe a few millennia and we have The Ten Commandments, which are a little more complex, But then we have the "So Called" The Commandments of Jesus that really are beyond my tiny brain’s comprehension.
The simplistic point that I am trying to make here is that as humans and their needs have evolved so have their Gods and the teachings of their Gods.
I have taken up the example of Christianity for two simple reasons a) They are the largest thiestic religion in the world & b) It is FAR LESS Complex then my other favorites like Hinduism or Taoism.
Finally we can trace this to our modern day society where everthing from Hinduism to Devil worshipping to Murderers to Saints are all in the same category: The category of popular culture, and the select few who hold the strings to this POPULAR culture. The mad rush to be HIP and Happening has led us far - far away from what I strongly believe the motto of human life: To evolve into TRANSCEDENTAL beings, To be CREATORS rather than destroyers. More on that next time….
The Holy Bible: “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck that which is planted.”
Me: "The day Man realizes his true potential, that day, man will not be man but be the creator of his own creation."
